From Rome's first Drag Race at Cayuga Raceway Park at the age of 6, he has been passionately hooked on the sport ever since.  The love of motorsports runs deep in the family as Rome comes from three generations of fanatical racing fans.  Rome grew up going to weekly events at Edmonton's Speedway Park, Circle 8 Speedway and Shepard Dragway.  He started drag racing a 67 Chevelle in 1980 and then a few years later was introduced to Sprint Car racing at Calmar Raceway.  Falling in love with Sprints and working with a team, Rome took on the position of President of the Northern Alberta Sprint Car Association in 1988.  During this time he spearheaded the change from open 410 engines to bringing in the 360 Rule.  Over a lifetime of dedication to the sport, he found himself involved in Pro Rally organization and co-driving, then onto managing Race City Speedway from 2005 to 2009.  For a living Rome has 15 years of hospitality and restaurant management background, then moved into automotive sales and service management for another 15 years.  Rome has recently been developing his consulting business to help small businesses in marketing and all things online. Rome has been announcing on the Drag Strip at Castrol Raceway for all the major events since 2011 and he’s also been behind the microphone on the Oval over the last two seasons as well.
